How Countdown 13 differs from Setup 9
A TD Sequential 13 is a later countdown that can start after a finished 9. On Today, the list of who completed a 13 is Pro. A 13 is still a count, not a buy or sell order.
A 9 comes first
Countdown does not start from a blank chart. It waits for a finished 9 and for intersection. It may begin on the 9 itself.
Thirteen is rarer
A finished 13 is less common than a finished 9. An empty 13 list can be a real zero, an open session, a scan that did not finish, or a filter. It is not automatically a healthy result.
Bar 13 has an extra test
The 13th qualifying countdown bar must reach the close of countdown bar 8. A low countdown uses that bar’s low, and equal or lower passes. A high countdown uses that bar’s high, and equal or higher passes. If it misses, the count stays at 12. That 8 is not setup bar 8.
An unfinished 13 can cancel
An opposite 9, a TDST break, or a recycle (another stretch of nine) can cancel a countdown that has not finished.
Worked example: a countdown that skips bars, then stays at 12
This table continues series A from the 9 page. Bars 0–11 match that series. From bar 11 the highs are raised on purpose so intersection can happen. These are teaching inputs, not a market print.
A low countdown adds only after intersection. In this version a bar qualifies when its close is less than or equal to the low two bars earlier. A miss is skipped. The count does not have to advance on every bar. Bar 12 is both the finished low-9 and countdown 1.
Countdown bar 8, the eighth bar that qualified, is bar 21 with close 7.4. Bar 26 still passes the two-bars-back test, so it could have been 13. Its low 9.4 is not less than or equal to countdown bar 8’s close 7.4, so the count stays at 12. That “8” is the eighth qualifying countdown bar, not setup bar 8 and not the eighth calendar day.
In this version, another low-9 recycles a low countdown, a high-9 cancels it as the opposite setup, and a low above the highest high of the setup window cancels it at TDST. A high countdown uses the opposite tests. These are NineRadar’s implemented stops, not a splice of every published description.

How this differs from the 9
The 9 is a consecutive setup: nine closes versus four bars back. The 13 is a countdown after that setup. A low countdown bar qualifies when its close is less than or equal to the low two bars earlier. A high countdown bar qualifies when its close is greater than or equal to the high two bars earlier. A miss is skipped.
How NineRadar shows it
On Today, the 13 list is Pro. Without Pro that cell is a dash and opens the paywall. Chart countdown marks, the Perfect mark, and TDST lines are also Pro. Free still shows whether a 9 finished. A symbol page on this website can still show the latest 13 state.
The 13 does not forecast the next bar. A one-way market can print 9s and never complete a 13, or complete 13s and keep going.
FAQ
What is a TD Sequential 13?
A countdown that can start after a finished 9. It is also called the thirteen-count. It completes less often than a 9.
Can I count 13 without a 9?
In NineRadar’s rules, countdown waits for a finished 9 and intersection. It is not an independent mark you paint on any chart.
Why does a 13 show as +?
If the 13th qualifying countdown bar does not reach countdown bar 8’s close — low at or below it, high at or above it — the count stays at 12. Equal passes. That is not yet a finished 13.
Is a 13 a stronger trade signal than a 9?
No. NineRadar does not rank 13 as a better order. It is a later structure. History still does not forecast.
