Someone has to be awake. Some weeks it is me. The room is too bright. The 9s are not more meaningful because the city is asleep.

I wait until the official close is marked. I do not harvest extended-hours. I learned that in a year I would like to forget, when a print at 16:40 ET became a slide at 08:30 CST and then an apology at 09:10.
The note to morning is six lines if I am kind, two if I am honest: holdings that finished, 13s if any, pairs that closed, and a reminder that I did not trade. Overnight coverage is not a license. It is a clock.
What I will not do at 04:30
- Wake the PM for an Almost-8.
- Forward a 120-minute 9 as if it were the daily.
- Write 主线 into a channel that New York will read cold.
If the list is empty I write empty. Empty at 04:00 feels like a personal failure. It is not. Rare is the job. I drink the second kettle and wait for the subway to start.
