Reproduce the pairing result step by step
This is the product’s pairing rule, not a desk’s record. Open Backtest, choose Analyze for one name, then the dates and one timeframe. Scan is the hot list, the watchlist, and names you add. Free replay stops at 365 days and keeps the default ladder. Pro can change the horizon to 0, 5, 10, or 20.
Teaching closes, checked against this rule
- Closes, in order: 13 down through 1, then 20 through 31. These are not a quote.
- The bar at close 1 is a finished low-9. The bar at close 28 is a finished high-9.
- Default horizon 10: the low-9 exits at close 29, ten bars later. 29 is higher than 1, so that low trial counts as up. The high-9 has no tenth bar in this series, so it stays pending.
- Horizon 0: the low-9 exits at the high-9, close 28, which is also up. The high-9 stays pending because no later low-9 is in the series. If the window ends before close 29, the default 10-bar trial stays pending even though the opposite 9 is inside the window.
Each finished 9 starts its own trial and looks forward from the next bar. One later opposite 9 can close more than one earlier trial. A later 9 in the same direction does not close the trial when the horizon is 0. Pending trials stay out of the percentage. The percentage does not include fees. The research ledger is a different screen: it can use the next bar’s open, fees, and slippage, and it is not this count.
